About Coach L.A.

Arthur Ray Jr. (Coach L.A.) is a south side Chicago native who has played football at the highest level. He is experienced at playing all 5 offensive line positions at the high school and collegiate level. He attended Mount Carmel High school and was one of the most highly recruited players in the nation. His senior year, 2007, he signed a full-‐ride athletic scholarship to play for the Michigan State Spartans. A week later he was diagnosed with bone cancer that would have him out of football for 4 years. He returned to the field for the Spartans in 2011.

After receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, he continued his collegiate career in Colorado at Fort Lewis College where he was a two year team captain, and Division II All-American. He signed as an undrafted free agent with the Miami Dolphins in 2015 and he spent all of summer and most of training camp with them until he was cut. Today coach L.A. still is a high school varsity Offensive Line coach and is continuing to use his platform to help others.
